Must our neighbor help pay for a block lot line fence?
Question: Our home in Tolleson has a wooden fence between our lot and our neighbor’s lot. This wooden fence is in bad shape and needs to be replaced. For aesthetic and maintenance reasons, we would like to replace the wooden fence with a block fence. Our neighbor will only split the cost of a wooden fence. Any thoughts on getting our neighbor to split the cost of a block fence?
Answer: Unless there is a reason for the block fence, e.g., the soil had changed to require footings, you will have to pay for the increased cost of a block fence.
